School place planning consultation

Leicestershire, like many parts of the country, is facing in the very near future a shortage of school places for our children.

With an increasing population and demands for significant numbers of new homes it has become clear that we need more capacity in county schools.
Unless action is taken there is a real possibility that in many parts of Leicestershire we could run out of school places in just two or three years.
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight Leicestershire County Council's current consultation exercise to seek the views of local people as to how we ensure our education places strategy is fit for the future.
I would urge parents, teachers and developers to respond to the County Council consultation.
You can give your views by visiting www.leics.gov.uk/haveyoursay/schoolplaces .
The consultation is open until Friday 17th October but its outcomes will be felt for many years to come.
Our children deserve the very best facilities please take a few minutes to let the County Council know how that can be delivered.
