End of an era at the George & Dragon

This coming Saturday (28 June) marks the end of an era at a Thringstone pub when landlords and local business owners Pete and Ann Gough & Steve and Margaret Fern move out of the George & Dragon.

The four owners have been responsible for the business for 7 years during which time they have consistently sought out diversification opportunities, including business breakfasts and selling local produce, to ensure that in a world where village pubs were regularly closing the George & Dragon continued to thrive.

Peter said 'It has been a long, difficult road but among all the bad times there have been lots of really good ones and we have made some wonderful friends along the journey.
'We are also delighted to tell you that the pub has been sold to a local businessman (I think you know who it is) and his intention is to uplift the whole of the ambiance and decor of the Dragon to enable people to carry on eating and drinking in the last of the original Thringstone pubs.
The management team have done an incredible job over the years in ensuring that Thringstone could be proud of its last real pub. Thanks will go out from every villager for the good times that Pete, Ann, Steve and Margaret have provided at the pub. Everyone will wish them well in their future endeavours.
