Two environmentally aware projects have been shortlisted for North West Leiestershire District Council's annual 'Green Footprint Awards'.
The Central England Cooperative has been shortlisted for the coveted Sustainable Urban Design award for its new Thringstone store which 'offers local residents a new facility within a short walk or cycle from their homes and blends well into its surroundings'.
Meanwhile Whitwick Community Enterprises and Friends of Holly Hayes Wood have been jointly nominated for two awards, Children and Young People and Partnerships and Community Groups, for their work with 43 young people developing forestry and general employability skills.
The award winners will be announced at The Green Footprints Challenge Awards 2014 on Friday 4 April at Radisson Blu, East Midlands Airport.
