Criminal damage caused to bollards in Whitwick

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage to a number of newly installed lighting bollards in Whitwick.

The incident happened sometime between Tuesday December 24 and Sunday December 29 at Whitwick Park, North Street.

North West Leicestershire District Council had recently installed the lighting bollards to enhance the appearance of the entrance driveway at the park and to increase lighting for the safety and reassurance of the local community.

The estimated cost of installation and subsequent repair is estimated to be thousands of pounds.
Investigating officer PC 2925 James Broomfield said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about this instance of criminal damage which has resulted in unnecessary and costly repairs for the local authority.”
